About Me:
This is my third year teaching with Jackson Tutorial, and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with other homeschooling families. I have over 12 years of experience in education. I began my educational career as a middle school and high school History teacher, and expanded my teaching horizons to journalism, student government, psychology, and geography. I earned a bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Utah and a master’s degree in United States History from the University of Hawaii. I spent seven years as a college history professor, teaching both American Civilizations and World Civilizations before relocating to Jackson, TN. Currently, I enjoy the adventure of homeschooling my own three children, as well as spending time outdoors with family and finding new adventures around every corner.
There is a beautiful feature in homeschooling that I seek to hold onto in the tutorial classroom setting, and that is the joy of adventuring. I seek to create courses that give students some freedom to explore areas of social studies and English that intrigue them, while creating a structure that provides them with a well-rounded knowledge base. Whether learning through escape rooms, reader's theatres, or mock trials, students learn best when they are engaged and involved in the discovery process. Come and discover with us!
